LOSE WEIGHT WITH MEDITATION?

You may think I'm crazy, but the answer is YES!  But how....??

As a Holistic Nutritionist and Mindfulness Life Coach, I've learned that my slowing down and quieting my mind to feel more grounded and in control of my thoughts has an enormous impact on my food intake, my digestion, my hormones and my ability to listen to my body,

I used to grab food mindlessly because I was stressed or bored or lonely or tired.  I let my emotions rather than my hunger, guide my eating habits. Can anyone relate to that?

Yes, in the moment of pure emotion - frustration, sadness, stress, anxiety - it feels soothing to numb your feelings with food and temporarily make the feelings disappear... but not for long.  Before you know it, the real emotion creeps back and you're stuck dealing with that plus likely some guilt too for giving into your cravings even though you weren't hungry.

But now, what I notice most is my ability to "think and pause" before grabbing food out of PURE EMOTION. 

Meditation has made me more aware of this pattern and habit giving me space to change. It slows things down, allows me a moment to just BE and BREATHE.  And calm my nervous system.

Meditation also regulates 2 important weight loss hormones - cortisol and insulin.  If you've been in my community a while, you know that blood sugar imbalance and inability to listen to your body's intuitive signals are the root causes of weight gain.

Meditation also calms the nervous system, reducing the stress hormones that may be running rampant in your body and hindering weight loss.  Meditation supports feelings of love, compassion and connection to others and yourself. In time, with practice, you'll begin to notice your body's physical cues and you'll better be able to respond to hunger and cravings in a positive way.

Take a few minutes out of each day to BREATHE. Tune inward to you.  Sit quietly for 5 minutes or perhaps go outside for a short walk alone.
