Here are 8 great quick tips to give your life a boost:
1. Look Inward
It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget to take a step back and look inside. Slow down and make time to be aware of how you are feeling (body and mind) and apply changes to accommodate your needs.
Press pause. Stop to literally smell the flowers. Breathe. Savor your food while eating. Reflect on your day through journaling or meditation.
2. Learn Something New
There is an endless amount of information available at your fingertips (thanks to the internet). When I was in school, I had little choice about what to learn. But now we can explore ANYTHING that piques our interest.
So, go explore! Go learn! Pinterest is a favorite tool to spark ideas for continued learning. Think about things that you’ve always wanted to try, do or learn, and go out and do it. Today. No more excuses.
3. Release the Past
The past can be a major burden on our current and future happiness. Take the time to address any past issues and let them go. You will be free to live your life on your own terms. When we learn to let go of thoughts and events that no longer serve us, we can rewire our brains and change our emotional responses and our feelings. Our responses, our personality and our coping mechanisms all become more positive and create an entire new identity from which we can live a thriving life.
4. Chat with Family & Friends
Close relationships are a gateway to happiness. Maybe you haven’t talked to someone in a long time, but would love to catch up. Take time today to reach out and reconnect with family and friends. Call someone just to tell them I love you. Or make amends with a loved one by reaching out and apologizing.
5. Go After Your Passions
Stop talking about your “great” ideas and start putting them into action, today! Your passions are your purpose in life. Dig deep into your value-sphere and figure out what your life priorities are. What is most important to you and make sure you are living each day fulfilling these values. If you aren’t pursuing your passion, ask yourself why. and then stop making excuses. Go after them. You deserve it.
6. Get to the Edge of Your Comfort Zone…. and JUMP!
I always say to do something each day that makes you uncomfortable, because this is where the best growth and learning occurs. When you push yourself outside of your comfort zone, your body and mind will feed off that change and it’s an incredible way to develop as a person. You’ll feel alive again as soon as you start to tackle things just outside of what you normally consider to be comfortable. And you’ll realize you survived… even though it may have been scary.
7. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
If you’re going to compare yourself to anyone, make it be your previous self. It’s You vs You! By comparing one area of your life to another person’s, you are doing no favors. Everyone’s life has many intricacies, yours included, and while one area can look great, another can be a total disaster.
8. Think Positively
The brain is designed to work optimally when you are in a positive mindset. There are enough negative elements out there in the world, so why waste time with negative thoughts from your own self? Think positively! What we focus on we find, and what we focus on becomes our reality. So focus your energy on the positive, so positivity becomes your reality.
